EQ, EI, Emotional Intelligence, Soft Skills…It goes by many names, and is thought of a little differently by everyone.

Emotional Intelligence is the ability to be aware of our own emotions and the emotions of others, in the moment, and to use that information to manage ourselves and our relationships.

Great question. Let’s see what others have to say about that:

[slide-right]“80–90% of the competencies that differentiate top performance are in the domain of EI.”

- Daniel Goleman[/slide-right]

[slide-left]“EI is more than twice as predictive of business performance than purely cognitive intelligence.”

- Gerald Mount[/slide-left]

[slide-right]“Leaders with higher S+EI produce more powerful business results and greater profitability.”

- Steven Stein[/slide-right]

[slide-left]“Emotional Intelligence (EI) is much more powerful than IQ in determining who emerges as a leader. IQ is a threshold competence. You need it, but it doesn’t make you a star. EI can.”

- Warren Bennis[/slide-left]
